Introduction and Agreement to Participate

Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Usage Survey
I have been asked to participate in a research study on the usage of the Social Studies TEKS in planning and teaching.
I was selected to be a possible participant because I teach social studies in a school in Texas.
The number of teachers who will respond to this survey is unknown
The purpose of this study is to determine how teachers use the TEKS in their planning and teaching.
If I agree to be in this study, I will complete the survey that will appear on my screen after I have clicked the Agree to Participate Button below.
This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
The are no risks associated with this study as I may opt out of the survey at any time and no record will be made of my participation.
The benefits of participation are an increased understanding of how teachers in the State of Texas use the state curriculum guide (TEKS) in their planning and teaching.
I will receive no compensation for this study.
This study is anonymous. No link will be made between the information on this page and the results of the survey. The zip code asked for below will only serve to document the range of the survey participants.
The records of this study will be kept private. No identifiers linking me to the study will be included in any sort of report that might be published.
Research records will be stored securely and only Dr. Lynn M. Burlbaw will have access to the records.
My decision whether of not to participate will not affect my current or future relations with Texas A&M University.
If I decide to participate, I am free to refuse to answer any of the questions that may make me uncomfortable. I can withdraw at any time with out my relations with the university, job, benefits, etc., being affected.

This research study has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board- Human Subjects in Research, Texas A&M University.
